For more than 15 years, Gramitherm® has been transforming sustainable insulation by harnessing the unique properties of grass. Developed and patented by agronomist Stefan Grass in collaboration with EPFL, the solution was further advanced under the leadership of Christian Roggeman.
With its factory located in Auvelais, near Namur, Gramitherm® boasts an annual production capacity of 200,000 m³. Certified as a Solar Impulse Efficient Solution and bio-based by the Walloon Region, the company represents a major step forward in green building.

A planet-friendly concept and manufacturing process
Gramitherm® stands out for its innovative and sustainable production process. The insulation is made from underused grass fibres, harvested from non-agricultural zones. This natural resource captures significant amounts of CO₂ through photosynthesis, drastically reducing the carbon footprint.
Circular economy is at the heart of our model, as we upcycle unused grass to create our core raw material: grass fibre.
