What Gramitherm® is made of
Our thermal insulation panels are composed of 70% local grass fibre. This abundant resource, previously underutilised, is sourced from roadside and safety maintenance mowing. Gramitherm® gives it a second life as a high-performance, environmentally responsible insulation material.
We also use 20% recycled jute fibres, recovered from discarded coffee and cocoa bags at the Port of Antwerp. Our upcycling approach gives this material a new purpose.
Finally, 10% recycled synthetic binding fibres ensure the panels' cohesion and durability.
A sustainable, local manufacturing process
Our manufacturing process follows a circular model:
Grass harvesting and processing
The solid fibre is separated from the liquid juice for optimal use.
Eco-responsible transformation
The biogas is used in an electric generator to produce green electricity. This generator needs to be cooled, and we recover this cooling heat to dry the grass fibres.
Thermoforming
A long insulating mat is formed, passed through a 160°C oven, and cut to standard sizes for easy use.
These final steps reduce the carbon footprint and ensure high-quality insulation.
A natural insulation
Our panels are made of 90% natural materials, with Belgian-grown grass and recycled jute from bags used to transport coffee and cocoa. These resources, often unused, are transformed into efficient, eco-friendly insulation.
Locally sourced grass
The grass used in Gramitherm® comes exclusively from local maintenance mowing within a 300 km radius of our production site in Auvelais, Namur Province. This contributes to a short supply chain with low environmental impact.
