2006

Birth of the Technology

Swiss agronomist Stefan Grass develops a process in collaboration with EPFL Lausanne to turn grass into a revolutionary insulation product: Gramitherm®.

ETA-06/0274 European Technical Approval

This approval enables marketing across all EU member states.

2013

Acquisition of Patents and Creation of 'Clean Insulating Technologies SA'

Christian Roggeman acquires the intellectual property of Gramitherm® and founds Clean Insulating Technologies SA in Lausanne. Initial Gramitherm® panels are produced in Austria and France by subcontracted manufacturers.

2018

Interreg GrassGoed Project

Gramitherm® joins the Interreg GrassGoed project, aimed at valorising natural greenery as a raw material.

2019

Creation of Gramitherm Europe SA

The Gramitherm® brand is launched with a dedicated production line in Auvelais, Belgium—marking a new chapter for bio-based insulation.

'Efficient Solution' Label

The Solar Impulse Foundation recognises Gramitherm® as a solution combining efficiency and sustainability.

2020

'Bio-Based Product' Certification

Gramitherm® is officially certified as bio-based by the Walloon Region.

2022

Renewal of European Technical Approval (ETA-21/0260)

This renewal ensures continued access to EU markets for Gramitherm® products.

Renewal of 'Efficient Solution' Label

Solar Impulse reaffirms Gramitherm® as a clean and profitable ecological solution.

2024

Renewal of 'Bio-Based Product' Label

The Walloon Region renews Gramitherm®'s certification, reinforcing its eco-responsible commitment.
